The Institute of Radioelectronics and Multimedia Technology is presently the largest of the six institutes constituting the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology at Warsaw University of Technology. Its staff amounts to 92 employees – 68 academic ones, including 12 professors (9 with the title), 3 habilitation holders, 45 assistant professors as well as 24 members of technical and administrative staff. Under the supervision of the Institute’s employees are also over 40 PhD students.
The Institute comprises 5 research and development divisions – Radiocommunications Division, Microwave and Radiolocation Engineering Division, Electroacoustics Division, Television Division as well as Nuclear and Medical Electronics Division.
The research and development activities focus on the following three areas:
- radiocommunications and radio navigation, with particular emphasis placed on mobile systems, local and personal radio networks, satellite and ultra-wideband systems, microwave, antenna and radar techniques;
- multimedia technologies, most of all in the area of television and electroacoustics, covering mainly the issues of intelligent multimedia systems, digital and interactive television, digital audio technique;
- biomedical engineering, particularly in the area of medical diagnostics, applications of the magnetic resonance technique, process tomography, telediagnostics, processing, analysis and compression of medical images.
